Xtrons head unit

Featured Replies

Thinking of changing the h/u in my octy and been looking at an Xtrons td713g unit with I pod control and sat nav. Seem a bit cheap to me but just wondering if anyone has any opinion of them. (sorry unable to attach link to eBay sale item)

Guessing it's a no then.

Tbh I've never heard of Xtron - sounds like a budget brand headunit. I've had a Tevion in the past and that was reliable, never managed to fit it in the car properly as it was a bit too long but the features were very good value for money. Are you looking at doing a full ice upgrade or just wanting more flexibility with your headunit? The forum might be able to help you more if we know what you'd be after :).

Just more flexibility really. Just wanting to hook up my iPod rather than carting a million disks around. I had the gateway on my a4 and wasn't keen on it so thought of a h/u upgrade.

This is the headunit,

it looks very much like the cheap chinese units sold on ebay, eg. poor quality as many here will testify.

Sorry for the late reply!

But what is so bad about them?

Is it because the sound quality is bad? Or the navigation or the menus?

Does the HU break apart or something?

I'm thinking of buying a xtrons HU but want to know a little bit more about them.
