I'll be honest, for these conditions, AWD + diesel would have been preferable. There where some pretty steep uphills, and modulating throttle was difficult if I wanted to avoid ASR intrusion - with loss of forward momentum.

Still, I am very happy with mah snowman - a huge leap from the Fiat 500, in just about every respect.

Hi. Fantastic photos. Who needs four wheel drive when there is not much coming the other way. Enjoy sliding around in your new snow monster. We have a 4x4 version but doubt it will ever see as much snow as yours. Been to Norway many times and your photos bring it all back.

Drive safe.

Ian.

Nice way not to show your plate ID :rofl::rofl:

AWESOME photos Dawg, the sort you find on expensive Christmas cards

I LOVE 'em emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Very nice photos, and very nice to see more Norwegian Yeti drivers on here

Great pic's and a very capable vehicle for the conditions.

Now that you are equipped to handle the white stuff, would you please stop sending it down here? :D

Great pics! Feels like ages ago when I drove around the M1 just north of London when it looked just like that!

Thank you guys for the kind words!

Today was extremely slippery, -7 celsius and salted roads - still, I cannot for the life of me recall that the Hakkapeliitta shod Fiat 500 was this bad on this kind of surface. Beginning to think the Conti Viking 5s aren't all that.

Fan of Nokian tyres myself, however I'd put it down to the light weight of the 1.2TSI motor over the front axle. Have the same issue with my wife's excellent but very light Fabia II TSI 85. Totally useless on summer slicks but even with Bridgestone Blizzak LM30's (which I'm beginning to rate very highly) you can still spin the fronts if your not careful on snow, due I firmly believe to be a lack of weight over that font axle. Almost like driving a Rapid Coupe again but with nowhere to place the bag of sand up front :giggle:

That is a good call - mine understeers alot, specially out of roundabouts. A heavy dieselengine is a good aid to ensure traction.

We had weather like that a few weeks ago. :sun:

Owning a 4wd Yeti fitted with winter tyres, I'm a bit like my kids in feeling a bit miffed that we are now back to the usual boring Uk winter weather. A bit of rain, a bit of wind but not warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. :rain:

I'd love some more snowy weather to enjoy the car again - there again it does save a bit on the heating oil

Same here. I'm saddened to be honest that the winter tyres are coming off on the 19th! I really enjoyed taking the snow monster out in the snow. As my video doing donuts on the snow showed!

Johann....Don't forget...It always snows at Easter! :giggle:

Will be keeping winters on the Fabia II until at least mid March if not later depending on weather predictions. Still cold and wet up here, however so far the Blizzak LM30's appear quite happy what ever the weather happens to be anyway, which is a bonus.

In London? Hehehe. This is the warmest February I think for a decade or so.

Here's one in another of it's elements..................MUD!!

That is not any guarantee for that it will not be the coldest Mach in a decade.

My winters stay on till after the Easter snows - whether they materialize or not.

Indeed - and a lot of it if I may say so :D

EDIT: Noticing that our rear wipers wipe differently - yours is slanted clockwise, while mine wipe from 9 to 3

Yes it was Simon, SS3, Speech House. You should have said you were down, could have met up and had a coffee.

Fun day...............not!!!

This was the junction I was on;

NO MARSHALLS during the 1400's and Historics, by which time I threatened them! They sent me 2!! Complaint has been issued to MSA. We were 200mtrs from the Speech House Hotel!!

Mine slides too. Same engine same tyres as yours. I think its cause of light weight/high car combination.

I just take it slower when its slipery ,or harder and slide like crazy (must turn off esp for this).

Oh dear, that looks a bit busy! It was like that in Serridge last year, but we commented there didn't seem to be as many about this year - looks like you got them all!

Didn't see any marshalls at our chosen corner for the afternoon, but thankfully although there were a lot of people there, they all seemed to be the more sensible kind, not the white trainers brigade. I guess picking corners a fair way into the stage from the car parks means most of them don't walk that far.

Did you see the silver Yeti driving through the stages before the course car with Clarkson on the side windows and a helipad on the top of it? Was still getting my camera out the car so I never got any pics of it!

I should have thought about meeting up - I will be at all the BTRDA Forest Championship rounds again this year (9th year as official BTRDA photographer), plus a few others - don't know if you're about for the Malcolm Wilson or Somerset rallies, but I've got a week's holiday in Wales before the Plains, so should be able to meet up at some point then!

The situation on that corner was bl@@dy stupid! I put 2 safety shouts in whilst the 1400's and Histerics came through and finally got 2 marshalls for the Clubman. I telephoned one of the MSA Senior Trainers who was at another Stage, and he did suggest I threaten to pull the plug, and he knows I would! Missive will be sent to the MSA Steward this week. There were other problems as well.

Have you seen the thread on BRF?

Yes saw the Clarkson Yeti! Whichever dealer it was who lent it, it was very clever. I certainly had a lot of interest from the more sensible speccies, including someone from the Sunseeker. They are being given a couple of Yeti 4x4's, a couple of Octi Scouts and a Superb for the Stewards. He has been told he is driving the Superb, but was very interested in the Yeti.

Next outing for me should be on 6/3 in Hafren for the Mid Wales, provided my shift on Saturday night finishes early, then I'm not sure. I've got a list at home, so need to check. If you are coming down anywhere locally PM me.
