Egr valve

Featured Replies

Hi, my mechanic (not skoda) rekon the egr valve is sticking most likely just clogged up. Been looking through the skoda warrenty as its still within and it looks as tho it should be covered as they havent stated it as part of ware and tear. Has anyone had any probelms with thier egr valve or with the skoda dealer trying to get it fixed. Btw me cars the 1.9TDi 105PD.

Cheers.

Hi Kane,

I replaced one under warranty on an Octavia 1.9TDI ages ago. It wasn't blocked, just didn't operate properly. I worked at a Honda dealership at the time and we took the job since the customer had a Honda as well. We found it easy enough to speak to Skoda about it and got the permissions we needed. I've personally not seen a blocked one, but it does happen. I would get your mechanic to check the setup on it if it's does turn out to be blocked. Another thing that can help reduce the risk of a blockage is to make sure you don't drive around on a constant light throttle setting. This doesn't exercise the egr so it gets hot and starts to stick. Use of a good fuel system injector cleaner can even help to keep it clear.

Cheers for the info, got the car on with 47k miles on and since i have only used v-power diesel and some times even used millers addative. once i get the chance i might take it to skoda, otherwise let my mechanic clean it out anyways. he said it should only be an hours work so shouldnt cost me too much.
