Castrol Edge is in my 1.4 TDI. It meets all the VAG specs for oil whether DPF or not.

My local dealer use it in everything.

I used Castrol Edge for top up, it's long life 504 spec stuff on the VRS bur I have moved over to some Quantum (VW) 502 spec oil which I got cheap. The difference being 502 spec oil is for fixed service intervals, which my VRS is anyway.

Assuming the oil you get matches the quoted VW spec and you don't go above the max line on the dipstick you will be fine.

All DPF cars have to use long life oil 507 spec.
