Can I ask a question on a 1999 VW Polo Classic

Do you mean the saloon version of the Polo? I used to have one of those.

Its the four door Saloon version and I'm trying to locate the ECU.

Its about to be scrapped and my son wants the ECU for a project.

TriggerFish is right, it's under the scuttle panel.

Yeah..centre of the windscreen under the scuttle panel (beneith the wipers) Make sure that the ECU is bolted to the fixing bracket.....I had the 3dr hatchback version...with a strange noise of something sliding under the dash area when I went around corners...even the ********* dealership couldn't figure it....I got ******* with the car and started stripping stuff out and found the ECU was't bolted to the bracket and was just sliding up and down the scuttle space!!!
