car now being build

Featured Replies

well after what seems to be an eternity, my car is being build, so hope it was worth the wait (ordered 08/10/2010) , but should be happy as i'm getting the MY2011 with a few extras as standard now for the price of the 2010 model. what is usually the time from being build to picking it up at the dealers. going in next week for a op and not allowed to drive for a month, so in theory it be the 24th march before i can drive. is it possible to state to the dealer i want to collect on certain date. SWMBO has got a driving licence but has'nt driven for nearly 20 years and theres no way i'm letting her loose in it yet, so she def not be picking it up. thanks for any help in the matter.

Which model have you ordered mate?

Dealer should be ok with you delaying collection. My vRS has been at the dealers for a litle while now and they were fine with me waiting for a 1st March collection (so I can have '11' plate).

I think its 4 weeks to delivery from being built :) enjoy!

I ordered a 1.2tsi DSG hatch elegance with a few extras. Was reluctant in having an automatic but the missus would prefer an automatic. Took one for a test drive and was really impressed by the DSG. It Was a vRS as no 1.2 available to test drive so hopefully won't be disappointed with the 1.2. Love to have the vRS but it's been along time since she driven and it be too much of a car for her so perhaps in a year or so might treat myself to the vRS

1.2 would be an ideal car to drive if someone hasn't driven in a while. There is so little to do once you've put the car in drive. Very relaxing experience all round even in the vRS. Good luck with the op and the car mate

Ordered a 1.6 CR TDi90 end of december, built week 6, last week, delivered to dealer in 5 days, today 17th, and Skoda UK wants it registered in 10 days on 29th on 60 plate, so am wondering if you still have no problems waiting till 1st march for 11 plate as I am not impressed as skoda quoted 2 to 3 weeks delivery to dealer after build.

On the basis there is no 29th of Feb, you may well get an 11 plate

That was quick.

Push for a 11 plate.

A car built to a customer order must be registered within 14 (I think) days of arrival in UK but there must be a window of a few days at the end of a month when cars can be registered but have registration month/year and RFL for 1st of the next month. After all possible to legally drive off the forecourt at 00:01 on 1st day of month.

As I just posted a car built to a customer order must be registered within 14 (I think) days of arrival in UK. Hopefully your dealer will be sympathetic. Worst case you will have to pay them but ask them to store or get them to deliver assuming you have a safe parking place.

sorry gave you wrong date skoda is saying 27th to be registered, The Dealer Chathams Dunfermline is sympathetic and is trying to change to march 1st but can only wait for Skoda UK to allow change as the registration rules seem rigid but I will keep you posted when chathams contact me today

Dealer told me the same thing today (although i am taking the car out of the showroom so not having to wait for an order) but i personally believe that Skoda are being a little unreasonable here especially with the wait times you guys are experiencing  . At this time of year, delaying delivery by one or two days is in the customers benefit :D and they should recognise that the resale value of a 10 plate is less than that of an 11  . I don't know what the solution is but with this sort of attitude, long wait times for delivery, i can only see Skoda losing customers by being inflexible.

Hope you get the result you want :D , Jerry
