Loose rubbing noise from rear wheel arch area..

Featured Replies

Morning, its been annoying me no end that I cant find the culprit.

I have this juddering noise from the rear wheel arch/boot area, it is actually most audible when travelling at low speeds 5-10mph. The noise on the inside is like a deep/low dull knocking noise against the shell of the car. On the outside it sounds like something loosely rubbing metal against metal? It goes away when at speed of above 40mph.

I've removed everything from the boot area, removed both rear seats, RARB doesn't seem loose, no split bump stops, and wheel nuts are tight. I did notice when I jump on the rear passenger side the it squeaks slightly but the rear driver side doesn't. Probably is nothing though?

Any ideas? :wall:

Thanks,

Check bottom bolt on each damper is tight.

Usual cause is removal of nut and bolt, and re-using old one. About 90% of the nuts and bolts used by Skoda (and VW) are single use.

Other than that, down to luck :D
