Octavia Estate - rear washer problem

Featured Replies

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone else has had the problem of the rear window washer tube becoming detached inside the rear door. I noticed my rear washer wasn't working during the very cold weather and found that water was running out of the back door - the plastic tube had become detatched. I put it down to me trying too long to wash the window when it was frozen and the pressure became too much. I took the plastic door panel off and reattached it, but the panel was a b**ch to refasten without bending the spring clips. Is there a solution to stop this happening again, other than don't try and use the rear washer in very cold weather?

Unfortunately, this is a well known fault/occurrence on the Octavia and a lot of other VAG cars. And its not just limited to the rear wash but the fronts can pop off too. Poor design really, one solution is to glue or silicon the pipe back on, a bit late knowing now that you have put the damn rear cover back, but at least you will know the next time.

Some dealers say that its your fault for using incorrect windscreen wash solution, by using cheap stuff and not the recommended specially formulated VAG stuff thats designed for use with spray nozzles......................the cheap stuff can lead to the nozzle blocking up which causes pressure to build up.......leading to the pipe coming off.

Thanks, if it comes off again, I'll glue it back on or use a twisted wire tie. Still having nightmares about that rear cover.

If you use the correct concentration of anti freeze screen wash then it will not freeze up. [The Lidl stuff has the potential to go down to -60C.] Easier said than done and it helps to be psychic.:wonder:
