Definitive differences between GSM II and GSM III...?

Featured Replies

Looking to get Bluetooth installed in my '07 Octy (with Columbus retro fitted) but I've been sinking in muchos information regarding various different kits/options.

It seems that the main question (for an OEM kit at least) is whether to go GSM II or GSM III. I believe that the newer GSM III will work with my Octy and Columbus, but because it uses the newer BAP protocol, it won't display in my Maxidot. And the very latest version (I think 7P6 035 730C...?) is UHV and so isn't tied to rSAP (which is what I need as I don't have an rSAP phone).

I also believe that the older GSM II (1Z0 035 729B) will work with my Maxidot and is also UHV.

What I'm not sure about is what other differences there are between these two kits and whether I'd lose any functionality by going for GSM II. I think the very latest GSM III Premium supports A2DP and can also display SMS msgs on the Columbus screen - but neither of these are really of that much interest to me; I'm more wondering about things like menus, phone book access, downloading contacts, etc. I've had a good look round on here and whilst there are quite a lot of posts re OEM Bluetooth kits, I couldn't seem to find a definitive list of differences between the two kits. Are there any other differences between the two? Would I lose anything by going for GSM II rather than GSM III?

Thanks
