Extended warranty

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed but just asking for up to date opinion. Just bought 12 months warranty for 4 year old 2.0 td for 299 from Warranty Direct. I was quoted 385 from Skoda. Has anyone experience making claims from them? They receive good reviews but appreciate they are a warranty company. I am particularly keen to know of issues claiming for oil pump failure.

Personally i would go with the main dealer warranty...i have read online that warranty direct use the term wear and tear , and therefore the part you think is warranted is actually isnt covered and you end up paying !! For the sake of an extra 86 quid, go with the main dealer...wish i did when i enquired about an extended warranty...and unknown to me the oil pump in my car failed...you only got to read the threads on the dam thing and it will give you an idea on what to expect to pay if you dont have a warranty.Bear in mind, the car has to have full main dealer service records, that way they wont throw in a nasty suprise when you come to make a claim. A reverse sensor is around 80 quid plus ...so it would make sense to pay a bit more...thats my 2 pence worth.

warranty direct is excellent , they will not cover you for the first 90 days for wear and tear items unless you took out before your original cover had expired. The dealer one is a joke it is not run by Skoda, it is just an approved scheme, a member on here had it and he had to threaten them with court action as they would not cover him for a seized water pump, he had full main dealer service and the belt had been done 4 months earlier they did recommend he had the water pump done at the same time, both the dealer and the approved :giggle: skoda warranty said tough even though 3500 damage done to the engine. Following advice from members here they recovered the cost between dealer and warranty company .

edit you try getting the terms and conditions of the approved scheme because they are not disclosed!

Try even looking on the internet nowhere will you find terms and conditions!

I have taken out the dealer warranty for my car. It is just coming to the end of the second year, I was given a copy of the terms and conditions both times. As for repairs, no problem, oil pump, reversing sensors x3, numerous sensors, drive shaft boot and zenon ballast. The dealer took care of everything and I didn't have to pay and claim back later. In my view well worth the slightly greater charge

I totally agree - I also have a main dealer warranty on my 2.5 V6 no problems with claims. Mine costs £350 per year and includes Skoda Assist so in my opinion much better than Warranty Direct.

So terms and conditions covered wear and tear parts? because warranty direct do

I can't find either booklet, but, was surprised when the drive shaft boots were replaced so I assume it covers wear and tear
