where can I get prints from old 35mm negatives?

Featured Replies

as the title says, I have some old photographs that got ruined due to water, but the plastic housed negatives survived without problem, and I would like new prints?

I have no idea where to go now in the digital age! lol.. Ideas would be much appreciated

thanks

Did a search on google and the closest I could find was http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/

I haven't used them and they are based in Burnley

For 'proper' photo labs I'd suggest DLab7 or Peak Imaging. I've never had reprints done but have used both for E6 processing and process & print for C41 120 film. Peak aren't the cheapest but the quality of everything I've had back from them has been impeccable.

There's a few more pro labs I'm aware of - at least one in London and one in the West Midlands, but I can't remember the details off-hand. It might be worth trying a decent branch of Jessops (if you can find one that isn't staffed entirely by idiots), but if they say it'd take 2 weeks and/or they'd have to send them away I wouldn't bother - their central processing lab is crap.

if memory serves me right you are still in keswick so here are some suggestions

there is a chemiest in keswick which does cameras etc opposit W H Smiths they may be able to help.

the other one is boots on the main street.

also acc to this website http://www.ukcamera.com/towns/northwes.htm there is Murray's Camera Centre on station street. 01768 772 049

if you venture down to kendal try wilkinson http://www.wilkinson.co.uk/store/pages.php?pageid=29 . 01539 735 055

there is also a photo processing place in bowness Photo Express 01539 442 094 on the main street opposit the shoping precint and next to SLAM. when I last looked in they still still had all the developing kit at the back of the store

Hope this helps

If you keep an eye on lidl and Aldi they sell 35mm film scanners a couple of times a year.

I've got one but its not the easiest thing to use.

Any proper camera shop that does processing will still do it, as I've had some 35mm developed and printed recently.

I'd take a guess that Jessops and boots still do prints too and if not they will at least have a high quality 35mm film scanner, which they could then digitally print from.
