Golf R Calipers?

Featured Replies

I have been thinking about upgrading my brakes for some time now and have seen a set of Golf R Brakes for sale. The fronts and rears with carriers, discs etc are included and they are gloss black so would look great.

I was discussing them with my mechanic who reminded me that the Golf R is 4wd so the rears might be a different fitment but couldn't be sure. My understanding was that they were the same calipers as the 4wd S3 so would be fine? Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Just been over on the Gti forum and although some say that the S3/R32 rears won't fit, the majority say that they will but that original splashguard has to be used and bent a little to fit? Anyone shed any light on this.

Ideal, thanks for that. :thumbup:

The brakes fit just fine. The rears need a tweak on the splashguard and that's it.

Anyone who says they don't needs to have a word with themselves. :D

Will the spare tyre still fit after upgrading? Same goes for winter wheels if running steelies. Just a thought.

Not on the front but if a front goes just put a rear on and put the spare on there. ;)

Ended up getting some R32 calipers in blue. These have been stripped down and delivered to the local powder coaters today. Initially I have asked for red based on comments on another thread, however I still think black with my anthracite wheels would look nice and understated, especially with the bigger calipers. Would someone mind having a go at photoshopping the colour on my current brakes to black.

Also, for anyone thats interested, there will be a full front and rear set of vRS brakes up for sale in the coming weeks.

TT-RS 370mm 2 part disks and 4 pot calipers :thumbup::giggle:

That'd be £500 in new brake discs all round alone! Would be nice though.
