Having a standard PD130 turbo turned into a hybrid

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I've got a blown PD130 turbo in my house that came off my car.

The casing is ok, but all the internals are damaged.

Where would I be able to get this converted into a hybrid?

Now I know some people will say going for a PD150 hybrid would be better, but I already have a blown PD130 here, so it's going to cheaper and easier to go down the hybrid PD130 route.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Matt.

Speak to turbo dynamics - They will be able to give good advice on this.

If it's KKK, don't bother. Garrett turbo? You're in luck.

Yeah, its a KKK turbo.

Why should I not bother hybrid'in it?

I know of a few running KKK hybrids.

Matt

When my KKK went, turbo Dynamics told me they would not repair/hybrid a KKK unit.

However different places will do different work.

So it can be done, it's just that Turbo Dynamics won't do it then?

Can anyone recommend anywhere else to have a KKK PD130 turbo hybrid'ed?

I know KKK's have a tendancy to fail , but isnt it the standard internals of them that cause's there failure? and would therefore making a hybrid version uprate the internals and cure this? not something im looking at doing, just curious now ive read this....

After speaking to turbo centre as well, two different turbo companies said "lol", to a KKK hybrid.

So what option do I have to put an uprated turbo on my car without deleting the EGR valve, as I don't want to delete the EGR.

I have the BLT engine code, and from what I read, I thought that with a PD150 hybrid, I would need to delete the EGR?

Speak to turbo technics they will hybrid the PD130 turbo they will prob take yours as a exchange and give u a garett one thats what they did for me.

Depending on what sort of power you are looking for tho anything over 200 ish id look at getting the 150 hybrid (talkin from experience as ive just brought a MD376 from turbo dynamics ;)

I'd be looking for around 220bhp.

I've read that some people have had over 200bhp with a standard PD130 turbo, so thought this figure would be achieveable with a hybrid PD130.

Also, there is an Ibiza FR around my area running 201bhp on a standard PD130 turbo.

You dont need a egr delete for a 150 turbo.

A standard pd130 turbo would last about 30 seconds at 210bhp  A hybrid one will maybe push 210 at a absolute push, no more. A safe limit would be 190-200bhp, if you want more than that you need a 150.
