Passenger door mirror fails to set.

Featured Replies

I have been trying to get the N/S door mirror to do what it says on the book and stay where I set it. Its been a few weeks now, and its getting to be a pain. I have even resorted to readiing the manual. I must be daft or something as it always eventually returns to pointing upwards. If I remember to set it as I get in, it will mostly stay for the journey, it sometimes will stay if I switch off and remove the key remove the key. But leave it for a while and it resets to sky. Is there a known fault? or is it me being dense? If so, how do I over come the prob?

May or may not be related but a couple of days ago the mirror glass bit was tilting up and down on its own, and stopped when I turned the control to "L".

This is on a 56 plate L&K with memory seats.

Any advice appreciated.

Nick

Sounds like something is faulty - get it scanned with VCDS.

The only time it should move up and down is when you have it set to L and engage reverse.

You are storing the settings in the seat memory after adjusting it to the right place aren't you?

Also, unless someone has been playing, if you adjust the R mirror the L will follow suit. You then change the switch to L and adjust the passenger side.

Then store the settings in the memory.

The only other thing I can think of is that you are storing the settings in memory 1, and then using a key coded to memory 2 to open the car. The seat and mirrors will then adjust to the positions set in memory 2. This is of course if you have set the key to a specific memory.

I Think I ahve done it corrctly, but maybe I've been doing wrong. Will try again and really concentrate. Re scanning, Hauptmann had a look for errors when he fitted and coded my HIDS andd leds.

Thanks,

Nick
