I've recently bought a petrol VRS in what seemed to be a good deal. Out of curiousity & a lack of faith in my fellow human being, I had the car tested on VCDS. Well, how about eight faults including ones logged at a mileage before I'd even test driven the car....

The only one likely to be especially expensive is something I know they did repair (you can probably guess), but obviously never cleared the code for. needless to say, words will be had & repairs sought!

My feeling that dealers will do the bare minimum to get a car out the door seem to have been confirmed.

They would'nt test it why would they? Normally it would be picked up on if the CEL was on or you had an inspection done.

i know how you feel mate, i'm convinced the dealer i bought my vrs from made it "look" nice and get it out quick its now biting them in the ar-se!

Well, the salesman specifically said they would run diagnostics & clear fault codes (this was repeated on the phone when confirming the collection date as one of the things they were doing). Also the repair they did do requires the software to do it by the book AFAIK.
