service question

Recommended Posts

just had the car in for its first service yesterday and the car was returned to me in an unwashed state

i always thought that the car was washed as part of the service, is this correct or is it just some garages

take more pride in there work and do it off there own back.

also washer jet hose for rear washer has partially uncoupled behind radio and requires dash to be removed

for repair they need the car for 2 days ? ,heres hoping that the dash will remain creak free after removal and refitting.

I am sad enough to be one of those people who washes their car before taking it in for service, perhaps daft but I think if it looks as if you take care of it yourself you are the kind of owner likely to be picky so they, in turn, take more care. Having said that it is very pleasing if it is returned having been cleaned and hoovered. However never forget that nothing is a free ride these days all their overheads are in the labour costs.

And, being picky, I would rather wash it myself than risk the gritty sponge and hasty swill over, or worst of all (a garage I used many many years ago actually did this) a trip under the local paint swirler car wash !

Ditto your two replies.

If a garage does this normally they will ask first. Some people (i.e. me) don't like their cars quickly scrubbed down with a grit filled sponge from the workshop floor.
