Hi can anyone tell me if getting the towbar prep at the factory does include the cutout panel, harness to the back of the car and the code for the towbar to be on the dashboard.

Come on Skoda UK, answer this, as the dealers don't know the answer either..............

It does come with:

cut out panel

bigger fan

and some electrics I believe, but what, I don't know, as I haven't had a tow bar fitted yet.

Tow bar prep includes the bumper cut out.

Electrics depends on which you have specified. The full "caravan spec" includes bigger fans and the ancillary loom for fridge and battery.

VagCom coding is only done AFTER it is all fitted at the dealers.

But in the UK all we can order is Towbar Preparation, I understood from TP that the Towbar prep includes the bigger fans. We can't spec any other option......

What is Caravan Spec? I wasn't able to order that........

And this is where I think confusion arises!

"Factory fit" tow bar prep is a basic wiring loom (a plug in the loom at the back), bigger fans and the bumper cut-out.

However then you get "Dealer fit" which is aditional to above, and may include:

1/ The tow bar.

2/ A basic (12N as was) lighting loom that plugs in at the back.

3/ An advanced supplementary (12S) loom that gives the battery and fridge power, fitted from the front of the car.(caravan spec)

4/ VagCom reprogramming that turns off the parking sensors when connected, alters the dash response for trailer light operation, and facilitates the anti-sway control.

When I get my towbar fitted, I was thinking of getting the 13 pin, and to use with my parents 'van, a 13 to 2 x 7 pin adaptor.

Would this power the fridge etc?

Yes, if you get the "full" wiring done.
