Wow - seems like a brilliant bargain

Really not bad! Good spec as well! Must be to do with phasing out engines, but still good spec, Bolero, Air Con, Alloys etc! http://www.skoda.co.uk/offers/offers/25off.aspx

Didn't know they still did that awful engine!

While researching a new car heard that the 1.6 FSI Octavias for 10,995 were produced to keep the volumes up while lead times for the diesels were so long.

Something to do with having a line that could produce the FSI but not the diesel

Not sure how true it is, but sounds feasible

I thought it was more to do with limited availability of the TSI engines?

Anyhow, this is still a bargain for those that don't really care about performance or economy!

Hmmmm..............

I've just ordered the estate version. It was indeed a very good price. It had to be, for someone not even remotely thinking about buying a new car!!

And why is it an awful engine, may I ask? Being nearly 54 years old, I don't care for performance. Salesman suggested mpg between 50-60 mpg. Is he wrong?

Frank.

Not awful, just outdated and underperfoming. 50-60!!! more like 30-40mpg.
