Rear end damage

Featured Replies

Had a rear end shunt on motorway and now rear of car somewhat shorter than before! (had light front end damage to, bonnet/bumper grill, radiator etc.) Insurance company is taking an age, so I'm trying to find out whether my car would be repairable or a write off. Apart from rear tailgate and rear bumper, the inside of the boot (where the spare wheel would live) is deformed.

Wonder whether this is considered structural? Car was driveable-ish. Car was Skoda Octavia estate 4x4 2010.

Does your policy give you a new car if less than 12 months old, 4x4's are probably on a long delivery so they may be doing the numbers to see if its cheaper to repair, several weeks rental may push it to a repair. All cars can be fixed, just make sure its a good repairer. You do not have to use the Insurers approved repairer & can elect to use your own, downside is you will loose the free loan car from the Insurance co but most repairers will cover that if you ask before giving them the work

Had similar experience recently. Sounds like the car is borderline write-off. My insurer wrote the car off as repairs were more than 60% of value. If car is clearly repairable or clearly to expensive to repair you usually get a quick decision
