Fitting central locking to Fabia 1.4 estate

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know how easy it would be to fit a central locking kit to a fabia 1.4 estate? Or know of anywhere that would fit it in the oxford area? I have been quoted £460 from a car electrician, I don't think he really wanted to tackle it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Set aside two days, most of the job is removing trim and routing wires. The genuine Skoda kit was about £130 when I bought it. A bit more expensive than the £30/£40 generic kits that are around, but it is designed to bolt straight on without drilling. While you have the door cards off I would recommend sealing up the door carriers with roof and gutter sealant.

Excellent. Thanks very much. I'll seal the doors too as I've read the problems people have on here with leaking. Is it just a case of using polythene and sealant, as used on other cars?

You're essentially sealing the joining between two pieces of metal.
