Confused DSG...

Featured Replies

Not sure how or why but I came off the M60 at stockport, when I stopped at the traffic lights i put the dsg into S to make a quick getaway as the person next to me was in the wrong lane and wanted to move over.

I took my foot off the brake and the car started rolling backwards (normally it starts to edge forwards)... As this didn't happen I tried to give it a bit of gas, to no avail.

In the end I had to put it in P and then back into D which gave me drive as normal.

I've since tried D and S and they are both fine. So, what went wrong?

Damo

how long between when you selected sport and pressed the gas, takes a little while for it to engage, you can move the lever and hit the has withing a second, it wont have engaged yet... needs about a second to work between selecting the gear and the gear enagaging... this is tghe only thing i can think of that would cause this...

About 30 seconds stationary... I selected S as I stopped at the lights :/

hhmmm maybe just an anomoly? If it happens again, i would go to the dealer and ask for a replacement box, could be something more serious that would manifest later....

Mine did this going from d to r while moving around the drive. Had no power just sat reving not happened since

Slightly offtopic, so apologies, what happens if you switch from D to S and vice versa quite often in a journey, especially while moving? Say 4-5 times. Assuming there's going be a long term affect.

I would say no affect, I do this quite often in the sort of roads there are up here in the lakes, the A66 ect would require D, while to have fun and "make progress" on the b roads, S is a good choice, though I tend to go for the paddles in 'tiptronic'.......

when doing overtakes, I simply leave it in D and manually overide with the paddles, to get he lowest gear before flooring it for the overtake...
