skoda fabia key cutting - programing

Featured Replies

Hi,

can any one help me? i tried to program a skoda fabia 2000 key transponder with a vag-tacho 3.01 on the software it said that everything went ok but the 'immobilizer light' will not stop blinking (i even disconnected the battery as well - no effect).

Whats worst it does the same with the original key as well. the car turns on and runs but the light does not stop blinking.

i'm afraid it might stop running in the middle of the road.

any advice is very much appreciated.

P.S. the key cutters asked for £100 to fix the problem and i don't have that much to spare

Not a Fabia but might help.

Looks like you might have "removed" the imobiliser function temporarily.

Hopefully, you just have to go back through the process again more carefully, or more scientifically (i.e. make a list of options to try and proceed down it until one works).

first of all thanks for the response.

do you know if i would need new key chips ID48 or could i use the ones i already have?

Does the car run for as long as required, or does it run for a second then cut out?

If the latter then the transponder is either damaged or coded incorrectly to the vehicle.

Where did you buy the Vag-Tacho from? not eBay etc by any chance?

the car runs for as long as you need it for.

and yes i did buy it from ebay to be more exact china.

i take it that was a very big mistake.

Quite possibly :(

If indeed the car does run as normal then the transponder coding (for the immobilizer) is coded correctly, otherwise it would cut out after about 1 second. It might be something gone amiss with the software for vag-tacho, as being a cheap Chinese copied version of the genuine article anything could be amiss.

Personally I would look on the list of VCDS owners for someone local to you who has the genuine VCDS interface and get them to check the coding is all done correctly.

i did try that today went down to the to a few locksmiths and the cheapest quote i got was £45 per key.

i honestly can not spare that much for a key.
