Trade in questions

Hi

I will be trading my car in soon for a vrs. I was just wondering what the process is for trading the car in. Would I be expected to bring my car in a few days before delivery of the new car? Will they do a lots of checks etc but they agree to the trade in?

Easiest way to describe it is "drive in, drive out"

Once they agree a price at time of order it doesn't normally change

When I traded my Yaris in for my VRS, the salesman came outside, had literally a 30 second walk-a-round, went inside and spoke to 'the manager' and came back with an agreed price. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount they offered, only £500 less than what I was expecting private.

Documents were then signed with the agreed value, official handover so to speak, all the usual stuff.

Well they agreed a price with me when I ordered. Was just wondering if they try to knock it down in price etc

If you are getting any finance with the trade, I think you need to sign the paper work a few days before, other than that, there was the log book for your existing car, which transfares ownership over to the dealer, took me less than half an hour on the day, because we got most of the paperwork out of the way the week before.

It should be drive in and drive out, I've only had one car where the salesman and his manager were keen to check over my vRS when I sold it and not wasting time they were out within 30 seconds of my driving the new car of the forecourt.

When we traded my wife's Focus in, the dealer had a quick 30 second walk around the car checking the overall condition, he didn't want it starting or a test drive, just confirmed the state of the servicing and the length of remaining MOT.

With my RX8 they wanted to drive it (probably never been in one before :giggle: ) and see the service paper work. Then at Time of order once they had done this we both signed a form guaranting the value of the RX8 because originally build time was 16 - 20 weeks so price was based on 4 months in the future.

On the day of pick up they gave the car a 30 second look over to make sure no dents or scrathches and checked the mileage.

Hope this helps.

Just had a look at my service book and I've realised I've missed one service in 7 years. Should I get it done or risk it???

They probably won't notice mate.

If it put's your mind at ease, give them a heads-up about it.

If it's only missed one, it's hardly not a FSH.

I was just thinking it gives the dealer an excuse to drop the price.
