Area around chrome grille

Featured Replies

Ok sorry to start another post! I am just trying to get my car the way i want it to look and need your advice,

Right my question is can the bit of trim that goes round the chrome bit of the grille ( dont't know if it's part of the bonnet or not) the owner before me must of had the bonnet resprayed at some point and this bit of trim is darker than the bonnet it really looks crap. I have been meaning to get it done for ages but finally got my arse in gear and asked about it getting sprayed.

Bodyshop in my area said if i can get it removed they would spray it, can it be actually removed or is it part of the bonnet?

Sorry if its a confusing post lol.

yeap unscrews from the bonnet by undoing 7 torxs screws.

Right thought i would whip those screws out today before i take it down to the spray shop tomorrow.

When the screws are removed the whole pannel comes off if you know what i mean? I was hoping to just be able to take the area off that needs painted and put the grille back on to protect my rad for the couple of days while its getting painted. Is this possible to have the grille on the car without this bit of trim? How dodgy is it driving 2 miles to work for a couple of days next week without the grille so to speak?

If anyone can tell me that the trim pannel around the grille can be removed then the grille put back on temperaly for a couple of days would be great as i am putting the pannel (if possible) to a spray shop first thing.

I tryed to dismantle everything but i din't want to break anything

If anyone can help before tomorrow morning that would be great

So it would be ok then? Knowing my luck a stone will bounce up and hit my rad :-(

I drove around with no grill for 2 weeks when i took it off to black chrome bit,

The grill does split into 3 bits if i remember right, i had to plastic weld the painted bit as it was cracked along bottom from previous owner trying to use bumper as a battering ram and pushing it up into grill,

Looks alot better with everything straighten out and refitted right, might be an idea to clean bonnet where grill sits as it looks a great place for rust to start

Yep Grill is in 3 sections so can be unclipped to just get the bit you need spraying.

I did a guide to remove it and splitting the sections somewhere, but can't find it now :'(

I have my eye on a couple of grills on ebay so i might buy a spare one strip the chrome off it etc sand it down then put it to a spray shop so they can spray both sections so i have a colour coded grill.

We shall see the weather up here is shocking so its stoping me doing anything to the car today anyway :(
