Felicia starting problem when warm

Featured Replies

Hi to you all.

Please can you help.

I have just got an 2000 Felicia Classic 1.3. When I went to see it it started up well but was blowing from the exhaust, I took it for a drive and all was well so I took it but when it came time to start it would not and I put this down to having no petrol in it.

I put petrol in on my way home came in to complete the insurance and when I went back out it would not start, I was told this could be due to the hole in the exhaust. The next morning when it was cold it started fine I went to work and fixed the exhaust when I got home.

The car is starting well when cold but it is not starting when warm. The engine turns and its like it is trying to start when its warm but it will not go. A quick bump gets is going.

I am hoping this is something cheap to fix as I do not have any money and its taken me months to save to get this car.

To add I thought it might be the temp sensor, as the gauge was rising.

I checked the temp sensor by putting it in a cup of boiling water but it did not raise.

I thought it if disconnected the temp sensor this might stop the problem.

I hope to replace the temp sensor tomorrow. If this does not fix the problem what else can I try?

Please can you help.

The temperature sensor has four pins, two for the gauge and two for the fuel injection, having a working gauge doesn't prove that the fuel injection side of things is good. It also wouldn't do any harm to clean out the throttle body.

Thanks for your reply.

I have never had this problem with a car before, if they would not start it was always when cold.

I am going to replace the temp sensor, the thermostat and the spark plugs this evening.

I will then check and clean the throttle body (by this do you mean the injection system?).

Is there a good product to use to clean the injectors as there is a few on the market.

Someone has told me to check the cam sensor but I am not sure if this car has one.

Thanks, I will let you know how it goes.

The parts place ordered the wrong sensor, they sent the one for the rad.

Have to wait another two days.

  • 5 months later...

so what was wrong ? (I have the same problem)
