nitros oxide

Featured Replies

As anybody on the forum fitted some nitros oxide to a diesel

been looking around and wizards of noz looks liks they no a thing or two

getting it remaped by shark and dpf removed but was thinking about the noz just for those traffic light moments

no of a guy who fitted it to a 2.0TFSI but not a diesel

Apparently Dervs love to run additional addatives. IE NItros.. Really makes them pull

But ive heard that on tge grapevine so maybe wrong

Talk to Jason (devonutopia) he is set up to run NoS on his PD100 Mongrel

From a standing start I would have thought I would need at least an LSD before being able to get anything more meaningful down the drive-train onto the road and I don't even have all those torques you get from your diesel.

Not sure an LSD would help....just use the standard launch control system (driver).

You might be right, not sure how effective the LSD would be in practice on the Octavia but they have their fans on this site.

My logic is that with a normal diff then at the breaking point all the torque must be transmitted through the one wheel which is about to lose traction.

Maximum torque to the wheel is available in 1st gear i.e. standing start

An LSD would spread the load across both the two front wheels (to a degree, depends on type of LSD).

Using two front wheels at the breaking point instead of one means twice as much torque getting down to the road.

By contrast as a driver what we do is to feather the throttle to avoid the wheel losing traction.

Feathering means applying less torque.

Less torque in itself means less acceleration of course.

If even more torque were available from the engine then even more feathering would be required.

So yes one needs heaps of driver control when more power is available but I suspect an LSD would achieve a much better standing start.

But even with an LSD you are still governed by the laws of physics, i.e. a tyre can only transmit as much torque to the road as the conditions allow, an LSD will just make sure that you can get a better take off as if one tyre is about to lose grip then the other is going to still be able to drive the car forward. On these cars too there is the traction cantrol so you will get the car feathering the throttle itself until the point at which the car is no longer traction limited and full power is available. If talking about having a nitrous kit and using it, I would say that there is no point using it until you are in 2nd or 3rd gear so that the full benefit can be felt and not just seen as a haze of blue rubber smoke.

What i do is turn traction control off......

put it in sport and hold it about 2.500 revs with left foot on brake then floor it......

I was going to switch the Noz on as soon as i hit second for max torque

Will DSG not limit the torque you can put through it anyway? I think I've read that it'll only cope with X amount on here....??

I think what you are mentioning is the design limit of torque handling for the DSG. I assume the clutches would slip once a certain torque is reached but suspect that will be way above the design limit, at least until the clutches reach a certain degree of wear . . .
