Rain/Light sensor

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I am looking at a Superb Combi as a new company car in S or SE trim. Both models have light assistant as standard with the light sensor already installed behind the mirror, but on the S and SE the rain sensor is £170 option. The hardware on the Superb (switch and sensor) look identical to my current Golf, does anyone know if the rain sensor can be enabled with a software tweak or is there some hardware difference in the sensor?

Hi and welcome! :hi:

First of all, English isn't my native tung so therefor I might get your question wrong here but why do you want to fiddle with the rain sensor? To answer your question I doubt that Skoda has developed another solution for the rain sensor since they already have it in the house (VAG-group) so to speak. But others may know.

Hi maybe I didn't explain it right, Skoda UK want to charge £170 for a rain sensor but when I look at the models in the showroom it looks like all the hardware is already there (sensor behind mirror/switch with adjustor for sensitivity), I just wanted to know if the light sensor that is already installed can also be used for the rain sensor?

I believe the sensor is there but the electronic device that reads the optical diode is not installed. It is also logical, not to install same optional parts that are not covered by the overall price, instead to let them be activated from VAG COM with no cost.

ah not so simple then, thank you both for your replies.

As far as I know are all Superb fitted with rain / light sensor (if your light button has auto mode) as the sensor is built together

my superb MY 2011 was rain sensor not activated but 10 sec. with VCDS and now I have rain sensor

Hi knudsen, that was the experience I was hoping for, you were able to switch on the rain sensor without any further modifications. I have not used VCDS, I use a different system, can you post which values you adapted?

Yes !

The rain sensor is activated inside the central electronics byte 21 bit 5
