Alright guys

I'm looking at getting a custom stainless exhaust for my vrs however I got a few questions.

I can get a full stainless system eg downpipe flexi decat back for 500 quid.

A decat back for 420.

A cat back for 320.

Is it worth spending the extra and getting it all done or will I not really notice much, I do plan on getting the air intake sorted out and the car mapped a bit later on.

Hi mate, perhaps I'm being stupid but can you just confirm details and prices again?

Are you saying you can get a full system 'Turbo back' including decat through to tail pipes for £500? I know you can get a 3" downpipe with decat only, from Blueflame for around £230 delivered so from there back for £270 seems a bit expensive!

With regards performance, the addition of a hi flow down pipe and either sport/de-cat combined with a good intake running a stage 2 remap should yield figures of around 250-260 bhp, and 280 lb/ft torque, based on other members findings, the cat back is only good for added noise, the gains will be minimal (2-4bhp if your lucky).

I am currently running an EVOMS intake and stage 1 map, the next logical step is adding a DP and Sport/de-cat, then having the software tweaked to allow for the O2 sensor behind the OE cat and various other scientific things that I know nothing about. Real world driving the mid range will increase substanially from this............then we move to Stage+, but thats a whole other ball agme!

Thankyou for your enquiry, to fabricate a 2.5" stainless steel exhaust system from cat - back will be £320 inc vat & fitting the only extra you may pay is depending on style of tailpipe that you choose, to fabricate a downpipe pipe including flexi & de cat will be £180 or we can fabricate just a removable de cat without downpipe will be £100.

Are you saying then that I would have to get the software changed to not bring the eml light on

why fit a 2.5" downpipe. thats the same size as standard. go for 2.75" or 3". they are the common sizes.

Are you aware you will need a remap to map out the 'cat' if yyou remove it, otherwsie your dash will light up like an Xmas tree

If your car is currently standard, I would forget the exhaust for now and just get a reputable stage 1 map put on, you will be blown away by the difference I can assure you!! Once that becomes mundane - which it will - then go for the intake and 3" down pipe with either sport cat or de-cat and stage 2 remap! And enjoy it all over again.

i was going to get in contact with shark performance once i source my self some maxidot clocks and get it all done in one trip
