Supercharger Belt Squeek

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Noticed over the past few weeks that on the VRS, if you put your foot down quite hard when the car is moving, there is like a squeeking noise from under the bonnet, which I can only assume is the supercharger belt, sounds like it is slipping a bit.

It only lasts say 1/4 to 1/2 a second, but it is an odd one.

Anyone else got this?

Edit: Forgot to say, this happens the second you put your foot down, doesn't sustain or do it at any other point.

I've been experiencing the same thing. In the low revs, when I put my foot fastly on the throtle, it squeeks. It got even more noticable after installing Forge adapter.

I think the cupra does this as well.....not noticed it with my car yet

  • 3 weeks later...

I also get that noise same as your description.

Is there anything to be done to get rid of that squeek?

You hear that sound on very low revs (1800-2000). To hear it you need to step on the throttle (1/4 throttle) on 3rd, 4th,5th or 6th gear. If you step on the throttle 1/2 or more than that you do not get that sqeek.

Same squeeking noise here :'(

mine doesn't do it... I can hear the supercharger whine, but no belt squeek....

I tell you what it might be, have you filled the car with windscreen washer fluid recently? I find on my golf (I'm sure all VAG cars are terrible for this) that getting fluid into the car without spilling it all over the engine bay and ancileries is often impossible, particularly with a fresh bottle.

I found a few weeks back having done just this that one of my belts squeeked like buggery the next time I started the car, it did go away almost straight away but worries me what thats doing to the belt long term.

Could be something like thats degraded the belt and is causing the squeek? Just a suggestion. I keep meaning to buy a funnel for it but just never get round to it haha

Sounds like you must have specced the optional 'hamster pack'? Dealer offered it to me when I put my order in -think it was like £100 to have the snakes removed and replaced with hamsters on wheels, gives an extra 10 Bhp apparently..... :giggle:

I expect it from my Furby, hamster nearly 2 years old now so it tires quickly running in it's ferris wheel. LOLemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Known issue and there isn't a repair for it. They have now revised the way the electronic clutch works on the water pump to sort the noise, however the parts arent retro fit able to the earlier design.

My Boca did it (loads on SCN on it) and I fitted the modified water pump, this sorted mine. However it doesn't sort all of the and from what I've seen all Fabias have the later water pump anyhow.

Should i live with that water pump noise? Does it cause any problems in the future? The garage does not know anything about that noise. How can i prove the garage that the noise is coming from water pump?

Thanks
