Grrr.....nails

Featured Replies

Spotted a nail in the outer tread of my front tyre this morning, pretty sure it will have gone through, not leaking air as of yet.

Car and tyres have only just done over 4000 miles, but pretty sure no-one will repair it due to its location, and I wont risk leaving it....

So, thats a nice £140 quid bill I really dont need.......

Bugger!

Had this happen to the wifes new motor at a similar milage. Surprised to get it fixed as it too was right at the edge of the tread. Might be worth your while to try a few tyre places and see what they say.

I've just had exactly this through one if my new tyres, only a few weeks and a few thousand miles old. They said they could repair it but they um'd and ah'd so I got a new tyre. I didn't want to risk it going on the motorway.

At least its a company car abd it's not me who foots the bill..... (I wish it was one of the crappy Dunlops though...)

SWMBO's new car got a puncture about 2 weeks and 50 miles after we got it, and for about three days of the two weeks it was back at the dealer with a faulty front wiper motor. Fortunately it was in the centre of the tread and was repairable.

Lucky me, stood by the side of the fitter whilst he worked on it, pulled the nail out whilst pouring water on it, no signs of a leak. Must have been an inch long, and went in sideways.

Fitter had a good poke and prod around and seemed confident it was ok

So, lucky me I guess.....

If it's near the edge you can have the repair hot vulcanised.......it'll be as good as new! Costs about £20 but only a few tyre places do it.

The old days of fitting an inner tube are sadly gone, even if the tyre integrity has not been compromised.emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

I've had a nail go in right on the limit to where they're allowed to repair it. Fortunatly the angle it went in at was towards the centre and they got it sorted.

I agree with RedDog had a nail through tyre within 1 mile of purchasing. Original fitter said nothing they could do, found a non high street tyre centre who re-vulcanised it no problem.
