Which Waxes/sealants suit AG SRP?

Featured Replies

i didnt realise untill i joined DW a few weeks ago that some polishes/waxes dont ''go together'' for want of a better explanation, so just wondering if anyone has used anything on top of SRP with success? as im going to get the DA out soon and give the sloda a good going over and want to try and get the silver paint looking nice and wet ready for the summer B) ....

cheers mark

If you want a wet finish ditch the AG. A decent polish and wax doesn't have to cost the earth. Recommened Clearkote Red Moose or Poorboys polish and a soft wax from Dodo Juice (Purple Haze Pro) or Collinite 476 for durability (ideal over the winter).

cheers that says for 'dark' colours mines a silver, do they do anything for 'light' colours?

SRP is only a polish but also uses fillers so it can help fill swirls, I use EGP on top to seal the paint and then Colly and some Z6 to give it protection and shine.

I did a test last year, there's a thread on here with pics & one over on DW. It was Race Blue paint right enough, but Clearkote won looks wise by a very small margin (RMG + YCW + Megs #16 + SP Spray on Show Sealant) over AutoGlym EGP + Megs Gold class wax.

I opted for AG EGP + Megs Gold Class though, because it was 98% of the finish and 1000x easier / faster to apply, and lasted a lot longer. EGP's tough as old boots, but if your top coat wears through the Clearkote stuff wears immediately.

For silver is has to be a sealant for bling, P21 wax wise or use go for Colly. AG EGP is good or try Optiseal, no buffing!

ive recently found dodo juice red mist very good for on top of a sealent on my silver car ... pref option at the mo is poorboys ssr ( if needed ) > poorboys ex-p > dodo juice red mist ( all after usual wash, clay etc ) .... i think the poorboys range are really good and give a great 'flake pop' and the red mist add's extra shine

Cheers Gents, have been reading quite a bit about the poorboys stuff actually, can i use there products with the DA does anyone know ?

cheers

I found the poorboys products great for a nice finish/shine, but there was zero durability in them compared to other similarly priced waxes out there.

I always found the need to top up ever 1-2 months with it, more so with the Natty Red.

tbh thats fine, aslong as it looks good as i enjoy [i dont know why really] applying something at the end of most washes every couple of weeks

I polished my car with 2 coats of AG SRP and then 2 coats of AG EGP which i left on for a hour each time,Water still beads off the paintwork and that was 12 months ago.

2 coats of srp is counterproductive, the 2nd coat of srp removes the first so to speak. Although if not done properly you could argue that The 2nd coat goes over what Was missed the first time round.

Yes, that's the reason i do it twice , the old eyesights not as keen as it used to be.
