Vibratechniks engine mounts

Featured Replies

Going to order a set, just wondered if anyone had any experience of them?

Have heard good reviews on other VAG forums, but nothing much here.....

Your thoughts and comments gratefully received!

Steve

had them on my old Bam engined octy (now sharks) couldnt recommend them highly enough, almost all engine movement was stopped, vibration was obviously upped but i still used the car for a daily driver, and it was fine, just a little more vibes on idle and taking up drive, i even put the original dogbone bush back in and didnt notice a difference there that effective. Car had kw v3's, 18's polybushed front end and was still fine to drive everyday

@ £350 for just the mounts, you'd hope they'd be good :o

Worn out your superpro mounts ? :giggle:

I have the THS FR3's at the mo, but have only heard bad things about THS since getting them :S ...

ps

Vibratechnics are in somewhat of a different league of engineering compared to SuperPro or THS

Thanks for the comments. On the strength of what i've seen and heard about them I ordered the set this morning - thanks Mike @ AwesomeGTI!!

Will do a write up with pics when I do them...probably this weekend all being well.

What things have you heard as I was going to purchase a set of these later in the year?

Big issues with quality basically seems to be the theme.

I got a 2nd hand set of THS mount when I got my replacement engine, and they had both started to break down.

The THS mounts are OEM mounts with new rubber inserts, which are much harder. However, I suspect the rubber they've used has a reduced lifespan in favour of hardness (dries and hardens quicker ?).

The SuperPro mounts I suspect use a better quality rubber, but you (or your garage) have to pull the existing mounts and dogbone apart to fit them.

I'm guessing by the fact that Steve's looking at Vibratechnics mounts, that his Super have come to the end of their life too (?).

Vibratechnics ones are a complete re-design, from a company that does nothing but work out how to stop things vibrating . Its a pity they don't do a dogbone to match.

The power you're running in the car will have a huge impact on the lifespan though. Both Steve and I have engine/turbo setups which exceed the levels of vibration VAG designed the car to handle.

Price-wise, the Vibratechnicsroute is much more $. The Vibratechnicsare £130 more than the THS, and doesn't include the dogbone, another £30ish

It is a quality thing as far as i'm concerned. The vibratechnics have had excellent reviews on loads of the VAG forums.

I have got new SuperPro dog bone bushes (80 shore fast road version) to fit, as for the engine mount that is the original (8 years old!), the gearbox mount is 3-4 years old as that was changed when I fitted the 6 speed box.

I need the best of what I can get, and hopefully these will fit the bill....

Will be fitting them this weekend. Full report to come!!

Steve

they are good steve, used vibratechnics stuff on my mk2 golf in the past, its good, though i also tried a solid mount that was an ally block, that was a little firm but the vibras should be spot on for your spec of car.
