Window Regulator

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Last night the drivers window started behaving with a mind of it's own, followed by a horrible grinding noise when I tried to close it. I eventually managed it, but it sounds very sick. I'm guessing it's the regulator (or motor, or both).. I'l know for sure on monday. Are those parts the same as the B5 Passat? Is it a common fault?

Cheers,

Robbie

Very common fault, Passat parts are the same. Check factors for cheaper replacements/repair kits.

Nice one Roto..

Is it likely to be the regulator, or the motor?

Cheers,

Robbie

It's usually the cable drive and the plastic clip at the bottom of the window. Repair kits are available.

Decided to go ahead and get a new regulator, €78 from a motor factors... Not too bad and all should be well for a good while, hopefully...!! Next it's new tyres, track and balance and rack up some serious milage...

Thanks everyone...

More later,

Robbie
