My car is at the dealers!

Featured Replies

After nearly 5 and a half months, my Superb SE twindoor 170CR TDI has finally arrived at the dealers!! The LexAutolease system tells me that they reckon it'll be delivered to me on 24th March... a week today.

I can't tell you how excited i am! I'm desperate to try out the KESSY system, although i'm still a little nervous about how it's going to look (twindoor in candy white, with tinted windows and wood trim). But most of all, i'm looking forward to the engine! It's just a shame i'm going to have to wear her in for 1000+ miles before i can start to put my foot down

I'll try and remember to take a load of photos to post on here :)

Congrats yor gettin a SUPERB car lol pardon de pun. I have a Superb 170 Elegance fantastic car in every way.

1 question why are u gettin rid of your Insignia estate ?? are they not a good car ?? looks very nice i drove 1 before i got my 09 greenline superb nice drive but no way near a Superb

Go on, put yer foot down hard from the start, the car will thank you for it in reduced oil consumption etc.

Great news, mine's still due to be built in wk 15, so hopefully I'll be driving it by mid may at the latest...

The Insignia is one of several hire cars i've had whilst waiting for my Skoda. It's not been a bad car to drive, but the fuel consumption is <40mpg which i think is pretty poor. Also, the steering is so light i sometimes wonder if it's actually connected to the car. It's a good looking car, but the boot and rear leg-room aren't even in the same league as the Superb!

I've also had 3-month hires of... VW Passat 2.0 (110PS), Ford Mondeo Titanium 2.0 (163PS), Skoda Octavia Estate 105PS (PD engine i think... well, it was noisy anyway), and finally the Insignia. So far, i think the Superb is the best out of all of those cars.

As for breaking in the engine... the manual says drive and rev it steady, but a few people on here have said it's best to hit it hard right from the off. Does anyone on here have any insight on this subject??

I have another 2 weeks to wait for mine, it was dealer stock, saw it end of February, bought it,but, SWMBO won't let me pick it up until my present car is 4 years old. Roll on the end of the month

Ouch!!- Happy birthday and adios to your current car then :giggle:

Don't baby it, the rings depend om turbo boost to seal against the bores and if it does not get boost during the critical period then that results in fairly long term oil consumption until the rings finally wear in and obtain optimal oil control. My car was first a dealer demonstrator so was probably driven fairly hard early life and from the time I got it has done a lot of heavy towing. It has never had oil added since I have owned it in 8000 km unlike others who report long term oil usage early in the car's life. When I buy my next one it will be flogged from driving out the dealer's door just as it has been during transporting from the factory on and off trucks and boats and most probably run hard on a dyno at the end of the production line, do Skoda do this?

Make sure the engine is warmed up and don't be scared to give it some beans even up to the redline. This is what i did with mine and have just put 1/4 litre of oil in after 12k miles. Loosening up nicely now.

I'll have to remember the advice for running in as I'll have a motorway journey to make when I collect mine, might have to go the long way round and give it some loud pedal, traffic permitting :D
