Got my Superb

Featured Replies

I absolutely love it! it a 03 Superb Comfort 1.9 TDi 130bhp with 77k, excellent condition with FSH, Picked it up yesterday and drove it back from S****horpe to the Midlands, and just a completely different drive to my Citroen C5 Estate HDi, an enjoyed every minute of driving not having to wonder if it was going to break down etc. Well there really is no comparison for drive, and build quality! Hopefully get my DA Polisher on it this week and get the silver as shiny as poss. Throughly impressed with it!

However couple of minor issues. The first being a dash rattle that started this afternoon, it's at the front of the dash toward the windscreen, but it's driving me saft! I'm gonna wedge some double sided foam tape in there shortly, but is there any ideas what it could be as I'd like to fix it properly.

The boot! It opens off the key, and the key hole in the boot but not off the button on the boot or on the drivers door, an yes tried it both positions on the lock of the drivers door, but still didn't work. I'm I right in thinking it could be the CCM? The passenger footwell is dry, although I do plan on taking the battery out and plenum chamber to clean it all out properly.

How easy are the headlights to remove?

And finally, reversing sensors! I know these are common to go, and I'm assuming cost a small fortune from Skoda, however are there any aftermarket ones with the same diamiter that fit, that anyone knows to? You can't see the back end and I don't really want to clatter my bumper :/

Thanks guys!!

Don't you just love stupid software that censors Scun-thorpe!

I did giggle a little when I saw that!

The Superb dash rattle is same as Passat dash rattle

The boot has a servo inside, you need to take off the cover - several screws, some hidden in the warning triangle area.

The locking mechanism might just need some greasing, or you need a new servo, or indeed CCM failed (though this is less likely if it's just the boot).

To remove hadlights, you need to take off bumper cover. Parking sensors best to be replaced with any 22mm black ebay brand  though it is a bit of effort as rear bumper needs to come off.

The boot is probably locked out, insert the key in the drivers door interior lock, found at the front bottom of the door card and turn the key, this essentially makes the boot a safe as it can then only be opened with the fob, check the lock above the boot latch as well, I think you are simply locked out by the excellent feature that Skoda fitted that VW doesn't.

I think the boot lock is opened with the central locking if you turn the boot lock position to horizontal. It was driving me mad because I kept forgetting to use the switch and had to keep fumbling with the key fob while hands were full :giggle:

Thank you very much guys, especially for that how to, although at the moment it's been temporarily cured by wedging some double sided inbetween the windscreen and dash.

Removing the rear bumper isn't an issue, will be fitting my tow bar shortly and it'll need to come off for that, but good to know that it's 22mm I'll order a set in now.

The key switch in the door I've tried to no avail, but I havent tried the lock in the boot, so I'll give that a try, as I say it works off the fob so I'm pretty convinced it's something electrical.

I didn't get it works off the key fob earlier. The problem is actually a feature:

Consult Skoda Superb User Manual, page 37.

Basically you need to turn key in the boot lid lock quarter turn left (so that key is parallel to licence plate, or horizontal). You have it now too far clockwise, in this position only "boot open" button on the key fob works and nothing else.

Like what I said

Something more in depth with the boot, tried it in the positions told and then every other combination, and nothing, not the end of the world I can still get in there off the remote, but annoying if like yesterday I dropped someone off home and they'd got stuff in the boot, means I gotta take the keys out to open it :/

So not even the switch in the drivers door works?

Just about the only fault I've had with my Superb other than light bulbs and a seatbelt replacement under warranty was a non electrically operative boot lock. The fix was easy.

Remove the boot lid inner trim (screws in handholds and triangle hole as I remember) noting that the clips are very stiff and rusty. Follow the cable to the latch assembly and find the first pivot for the lever which is pulled by the cable. Oil it - like many VAG pivots including the boot lid hinges, it will be stiff.
