Dirty Boot/Tailgate/Back Bumper

Featured Replies

Had my vRS a month now and cleaned it once. Weather as we know has been a mix of sunshine, showers, fog etc.

Anyway on the first clean noticed the dirtiest piece of the car seemed to be the whole tailgate/boot area including back bumper. (I dont by the way have any mud-flaps.)

Looking at it again 2 weeks on it appears the boot/tailgate area is dirty again or certainly showing a different level of noticeable dirt than the rest of the car.

Being my first Fabia I know the design is a bit tall and boxy and wondered when in rain/wet :rain: roads does somehow the muck find its way to the back of the car.

If thats the case then no worries but just wondered if someone can collaborate this to prove I am not going mad !

It's normal on the estate too. It seems to suck every splash of crap and grit all over the back, never had a car as bad for it before :swear:

I am on my third Fabia. They all seem to attract extra crud on the rear.

Its a fact that the most dirt will accrue on the rear tail gate and bumpers of hatch style cars, this us due to the low pressure wake created by the body shape will pull all sorts of debris into the rear and is an unavoidable concequence of the aerodynamics involved. The very same can be said of larger commercial vehicles and buses.

Cheers guys - puts my mind at rest. Does seem to picknup more muck than my previous focus. Oh well I'll have to clean and polish her a bit more :giggle:

I noticed this as well. Really messy. Most people see my vRS from the rear as well, so don't want it to be too messy ;)

Same on my VRS mate, the dirtiest spot is always the whole of the boot area.

try having hte white vRS, mine goping already

Rear mudflaps are a must on the little hatchback, it does cut down on the rear muck but it doesn't stop it. My car can look clean all over until you get to the rear.

definate get mudflaps!

Lots of cars are like this. My Golf MK6 is terrible. The tailgate, bumper and number plate get filthy very quickly!

Never been a mudflap man in all my motoring years, but may now consider it.

Thanks again guys.

They all seem to attract extra crud on the rear.

Yes, I get this myself - so does my car.
