vRS drl/front sidelamps

Featured Replies

That's it, now a fully paid up member of the club. Being flashed at by a knob in a Renault Scenic for having my dipped headlamps and sidelights on.

The drls are very dim ie sidelight dim when the headlights are on and don't even look like foglights, apart from being in the front bumper that is.

Can just here the conversation in the Scenic "ooh look at that Deirdre, theres a numpty with his foglights on, better flash my foglights ten times to tell him to turn them off".

At least my car looks good.

The End.

Brilliant! Haha!

It's happened to me loads too, I'm sure I saw some old guy coming in the opposite direction, mouthing something after looking at my car, didn't seem to be mouthing "oo what a lovely car" either. Was something with more swear words in I think.

:)

I wonder if it is possible to turn the DRLs off? I know they are required by EU law so it may not be something easy to do.

Only via the switch in the fuse box.

This ONLY disables them for when no sidelights or headlights are selected.

Since the sidelights in the headlight cluster are in no way connected or wired up, you would effectively have no sidelights, which is illegal.

So in short, unless you can find a way to rewire the original sidelights, no you cannot.

Hi

I am sure when I get mine, that I'll be in good company as it seems mandatory in Leics to have your fog lights on whatever the weather. I never see anyone flashing those people!

and **** the people who don't understand, they are ignorant, they don't bother me! my car goes in for the driving test (as I teach in it) and funny how the goverment examiners know what DRL's are, after all they are "type approved" it doesn't matter what the ignorant masses complain about... when I have my signage on, I get abused all the time by "joe public" even though I'm driving by the book.... for exmple overtaking duffers doing 45 in a 60 zone i get abused... i don't break the speed limit ect, but they, of corse, think they are right, and I am wrong, i know I'm right, and they are ignorant, if they want a driving lesson they can pay me £25 to have on, otherwise their ignorance is no skin off my nose...

I was in sheffield before driving through a bus lane all sined up (had my mark I vRS then)when I got a call on my mobile (numer on the roof sign) by some numty goin "call yourself a driving instructor, driving in the ******* bus lane..." blah blah.... I let him have his rant while I drove on quietly... then explained that the bus lane was only operational between 8am-10am and 4pm-7pm, and politley pointed out that it was 2pm, and if he read the signs he'd understand... i offered to take him out on adriving lesson to educate hime, but he seemed to hang up after some huffing and fuffing...

Brilliant. Doesn't surprise me. I learned to drive in Sheffield and my instructor used to insist I drove in the numerous bus lanes when outside of their hours of operation (providing all other conditions made it appropriate of course). He saw it as a sign of a poor driver if people didn't bother to read the signs. The amount of people I'd see giving me hassle for driving in the bus lane, then wondering why it was so much harder for them to be in the right position at the next junction! He was a bit of a legend, my instructor...

he wasn't my friend bela was he? lol... you are right though, there are two lanes capable of handling twice the traffic, why build up a massive que in the one lane by not using the bus lane? people are ignorant, guess we have to accept it ;)

i have this down the road from me. A dual carriageway which changes to one lane at the end, that everydaty during rush hour there is a back log of cars blocking the round about for a bout 2 miles, however the queue is in the left hand lane only and not both. People go nuts when you drive all the way down and filter in. Theres 2 lanes for a reason, and if people used them it wouldnt back log up the entire area every day blocking streets and roundabouts. :dull:
