Quick wiring question

Featured Replies

Fitting my PSI Power Box in the morning and looking forward to the test drive afterwards. :D

Minor point that I want to clarify before hooking it up. The unit needs +12v and a ground and has corresponding red and black wires coning out of the box. Now I 'aint thick where elctrics are concerned, (master degree in electronics) but have never done any electrcs in a car before.

Can I connect the +ve to the bus bar on top of the battery and the ground to any convientient bit of bar metal on the body work?

Wouldn't want to fry the box by getting thsi wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yup no probs with the +12v,but suggest you use one of the factory earth points for ultra reliability, although if there are non nearby you could bare some metal - but make sure you cover it once the connection is made - dont want any metal monster in there !

Yep you can, just make sure it is one of the 10mm nuts on the supply side rather than the fused side.

Skodaw: Can you point me in the direction of any factory earth points? Presume a blob of silicone sealant would be an idea to prevent shorts?

Ross: Second silly question, Which ones exactly, under the barttery cover is a bus bar with maybe 6 or 7 10mm nuts along it. Would this be where to take the +ve from?

Any pictures would put my mind at ease.

You want to take the power off the top run of 10mm nuts, the one on the far right is the easiest, its where I run my amp cable to.

There are usually a few earth points in the engine bay, a good place to look is usually behind the headlights... although I've never seen a Fabia engine bay, maybe Ross could confirm a good location

Thanks chaps. All clear now. When I get this done, hopefully tomorrow, I'll post a few pics.
