02 Fabia Estate front anti-roll bar bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all, Dads 02 Fabia 1.4 estate has a problem.

The anti-rollbar bush on the front roll bar (1 of 2) is knocking. The inner part appears to have come out. We've got what looks like half of it.

Been to the local Skoda dealer & they want to change the whole roll bar, as the new one has the bush mounting as part of it, apparently to cure this 'known' problem.

It's £70+ alone for the bar.

Is there a way to change the bush(es) on it's/their own. Dad's a retired mechanic, so naturally hates paying for anything to be done to the car that he thinks is either not necessary, or he can do himself - time isn't an issue.

Thanks in advance

The front anti roll bar has a plastic/metal bush bonded/welded on it which acts as some kind of spacer before the rubber bush goes on. These are prone to cracking and coming off the anti roll bar but will stay in place due to the rubber bush being there. Apparently doesnt make much difference as theres only a very small amount of play.

Total cost for the work to be done by a Skoda tech shouldnt be more than £148 to supply and fit the new anti roll bar.

 Cheers, I'll let him know

I just noticed in your post you said that half of the spacer has come off. if this is the case then I'd suggest your dad does have the anti roll bar replaced. It should be something he could do himself seeing as he is experienced. I'll see if I still have the part number lying around if you need it. However. If its just the outer rubber bush thats gone its a doddle to replace but you'd be best removing the old one first as there are different sizes put on over the years. The rubber bushes arent that expensive either. Just a few ££££'s

We did try the local Skoda garage, but they'd only do the complete anti-roll bar. Tried other places, but no-one seemed to be able supply the bushes - I'll try & get a few pics when I'm there next, but I have a feeling he's been playing today & made something up. Not bad for an 80yr old :giggle:

anti roll bar bushes are £6 for the set from TPS

just bought some on saturday

one of my spacers has slid along my bar i am

just going to reposition it and try and bond it in

place and fit the new bushes if i ever get the time
