My understaning of how to spot a set of xenon headlights was to look for the big round bulb

A la this Fabia mk1 headlight

as opposed to this standard one

Is that correct or are there fancy big round reflector set ups that look like xenons but are lit by conventional bulbs?

on the mk1 fabias that is correct however on the mk2's they use projectors for normal halogen bulbs

Thanks Trev

I assumed that must be the case otherwise everything down to the base spec 1.2 HTP was getting xenons along with quite a few shopping spec clio's i've spotted recently!

Headlamp washers would normally indicate xenons on most cars, It is on Octavia anyway, not sure about the rest of the range. (I'm a Skoda newbie)

Early Mk1 octy's had projector headlights and washers, but just normal bulbs

Actually, all the Elegance and 4x4s in the mk1 versions had headlight washers with halogen bulbs as standard. The mk2 Elegances did (at least the pre-facelift, I don't know about since) I expect the mk2 4x4s too.

I`m pretty sure after a certain point they had xenons fitted

Mine's a 2002 Octy Elegance with relector halogen heads, projector halogen fogs, and headlight washers (which are great except for the way they drink washer fluid).

My Octy has a big lens like that but no Xenons.

So did the Mk.1 Fabia had projector headlights with bulb lenses available as an option?

Think the mk1 Fabia was either standard lights, with just halogens - or full blow xenons. Or in the UK at least.

Is it OEM?

I think so, yes. Or that's what the OEM ones look like anyway.
