Quick MAF "specified" value question

Featured Replies

I wanted to do some MAF logging to see if it was anything to do with my fuel consumption (never better than ~40mpg no matter how I drive?). Laptop died before I got to the dual carriageway, but I noticed that the specified value was always 850mg/stroke. Is this normal?

I forgot to include RPM, but I don't think I reached over 3000RPM in third gear during this run. I'm guessing those spikes probably aren't normal?

I'm in the same boat mate, awful fuel consumption...

Well, I wouldn't say it was awful. I get about 420 miles out of a tank (including expansion - 48-50 litre) and that lasts me 2 weeks. I wouldn't mind 50mpg if granny driving though. I always try and use engine braking rather than the brakes and avoid stopping completely if possible...

I gave it two weeks granny driving (i.e 60 in 6th in the slow lane of dual carriage ways) a while back and got ~43mpg.

The last two weeks I have been "making progress" and got 40mpg dot on.

It may just be my journeys and me being greedy. They're usually quite short (20 minutes - 40 minutes) and there's a fair amount of potential stop-starting.

/\ sounds about normal!!

on a motorway run i was only getting 53mpg sitting at 75 indicated

:o Outragous! You should be locked away.

Im only joking but you know what some are like.

I just happened to have a spare MAF, so I swapped them over and took it for a run. Before was without RPM logged though so it's a pretty meaningless comparison... but looking at this graph, at ~2500RPM it goes over 850mg/stroke (the spikes I was seeing before), so I guess they're both working fine :)
