Epc and engine light on!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've got a 2006 petrol vrs and the epc and engine lights have come on. I have read the thread about this so I've borrowed my brothers Gendan hand held code reader but it's not showing a code! Can I reset the ecu by just taking the battery off and see if it comes back on? Or does anyone have vagcom that lives near Ely in Cambridgeshire to see if that brings anything up? I don't really want to take it to the dealer to be told I need a new ecu!

Can anyone help me please?

Tim.

Tim,

I had the same issue with my petrol VRS when I bought it last year, when the dealer checked it no codes came up. This went on for a few months and in the end they gave me a new ecu under warranty. The emmissions light has come on since, seems to come on if I let the engine run on fumes from a low tank but is also sensitive when I put fuel in from a certain garage.

The light only stays on for a few minutes at a time and has come on about 4 times since the ecu replacement.

Hi Paul,

My wife filled the car up at Tesco then ran it quite low so that might explain it.

I do still need to get rid of the lights, can the ecu be re-set at all?
