Airbag under seat wiring fix...anyone got a photo guide?

Featured Replies

I've been told by a Skoda dealer that my airbag light is on due to a fault in the wiring under the seat and it will be £150 to have repaired. From what i've researched this is a very common problem and simple to fix.

Anyone got pictures or a guide for the Octavia II (mines a 2005) to help me along? If its common, a guide should really be here.

Moved ;)

i had this a while back , i just wound a rubber band around each side to keep it under tension , cleared the light and have never seen it since , probably 2 years ago

Don't put key into the ignition,

Remove the seat held on by 4 torx bolts

tilt seat forward and you will see a yellow connector, make a note of the colours as some like mine change after the connector????

Lift clip on one side and disconnect

Check the cables are attached to the connectors

If not get some male female bullet connectors or get a small strip of cable joints the ones with the screws, or if you have a soldering iron handy joint them that way and insulate individually

Cut yellow plugs off right next to plug and strip the ends and using either of the above join the corresponding cables in line, then use insulating tape around everything

refit seat, get VDS or equivalent and turn off warning

Its not a MOT failure as mine was on last week when I had my taxi test
