Maxidot - what can it do?

Featured Replies

Hello

Picked up my new Superb Estate today, 1.8SE in Steel Grey with phone prep and sunset glass.

It's all good, the first 20 miles have been great, and I've been sat playing around getting my Blackberry 9780 working (took a while, but it's fine now!)

I've been in and out of the settings in the Maxidot and wonder if there's a list of all the options and settings on the Maxidot and what they change?

I've had a search on the forum and can't find them listed anywhere, and if they're in the manual I'm struggling to find them....any help appreciated, thanks.

Update - found them in the manual, but would still like a more detailed list of what each setting does if one exists.

Managed to get all the doors open on the first click, which saves the kids pulling the handle harder and harder when I forget to press it twice!

I picked up my SE spec Superb from the dealership last Friday. Unfortunately for me, the doors take 2 clicks to open so i already need to take it to the dealers to get that setting changed.

I'm a little disappointed with Maxidot. I thought i'd be able to change quite a few settings, but unless you have electronic seats you'll find that the settings are heavily restricted. The sunset glass is also a complete waste of money.

...other than that, the car is AMAZING!

You should be able to change that in the maxi-dot (I did) - I think it is under convenience.

Really quite pleased with our sunset glass, it's much darker than I thought it would be and certainly darker than a car they have at the dealership - I guess it's a bit of hit and miss

Not sure about the SE specs for maxidot but for the Elegance the operations are given in the handbook as:

You can select the following information (depending on the equipment installed on the vehicle):

• MFD Data (MFA DATA)

• Convenience

• Lights & Vision

• Time

• Winter tyres

• Language

• Units

• Assistant

• Alternative speed displayed (Second speed)

• Automatic light (Automat. Lights)

• Service Interval (Service)

• Factory Setting

• Back

After selecting the menu Back you will reach one level higher in the menu.

If you go down through the above headings, (these may be different according to your general specs) you will find sub headings for everything that you can change.

Comfort*

Door open Here you can switch on or off the functions for opening a single door and automatic closing.

Yes but we have the SE and so there's no "Comfort" section in Maxidot. Although i don't see why controlling the central locking should have anything to do with having electronic seats.

Ours is SE and I think the central locking options are under 'Convenience' - successfully changed central locking to open on one click, and to lock at 12mph.

What's 'Comf. Indic.'?

I agree with chucker, the manual gives a very limited explanation of the adjustment functions.

Controls the number of flashes you get from a brief touch of the indicator stalk.

Sorry mannyo, I don't get it? You mean like when you flash your headlights at someone? Also, it's only on or off. What's on and what's off?

Edit: or do you mean like when you change lanes, say on the mway, ie, one or three flashes? Yeah, I think that'll be it. But wtf? Where does the 'comf' bit come into it, lol?

Hi, its for your indicators.

when you touch indicator it blinks 3 times and then goes off on its own. /if you ant you candisable this function hence ON or OFF.

Some people don't like the function because if you knock it (the indicator stalk) by accident then you can't stop the indicators flashing. All clear now?

I like the function but I prefer the Vauxhall one as if you do press it (the indicator stalk) by accident you just press it again and it stops - at lot more sensible in my opinion.

hope that helps

Thanks stef, yeah I thought it might be that. Still can't see where the 'comf' bit comes into it tho :S

I'd take a guess that it means "Comfort Indication" or "Comfort Indicators". Although it could put you in an uncomfortable position if you give it a nudge or change your mind... :giggle: so "comf" could be debatable.

have fun playing...

First thing I disabled on my last two Superbs, just a slight touch and the indicators flash three times sometimes when activating cruise control. I followed a Superb last year and on a perfectly good road three flashes left then three right time after time I think he or she was seeing the indicator warning light flash and thinking they had actually set them going immediately moved the switch to what they thought was the central position only to have the other side flasher warning light come on. I had done this myself several times before I saw a thread on the Forum and disabled the setting.

I've gotten quite used to this feature and would miss it now if I didn't have it. Does anyone know off the top of their head whether the changes in MaxiDot are just to enable/disable the feature or is it possible to adjust the number of flashes... I'd prefer four flashes rather than the default 3...??

Maxidot, enables it or disables it only.

I don't know if the VCDS can change the number of flashes? it may certainly be possible?
