Greenline Hatch Collection Friday 8th

Featured Replies

Hi. Picking up new Greenline Hatch on Friday from dealer who is at best unimpressive. Will comment further later. This is our second Skoda in 4 months. Can anyone explain how Skoda win customer satisfaction surveys i.e. J D Power? I just am not seeing it myself, sorry.

Bit more info then I can comment? :)

My local dealer is top notch!

Hi. Well it's not in Kent. Dealer informs me they contribute to VAT free offer. Skoda UK say the offer is their incentive only. Who to believe?

my dealer also said the subsidize the vat but tbh it didnt detract from the price, i received the full vat discount on car + extra's with a couple of things trown in so they cant be losing money on the deal imho

From what I understood from my dealer, not all dealers take the VAT offer suggested by Skoda, its up to the dealer apparently.

Hi. So who is paying the VAT? The dealer or Skoda UK. It certainly is not the UK government.

Dealer contributes and gets a payment from Skoda

The VAT free offer, is not really VAT free since that tax has to be paid on all cars. The car is discounted by an equivalent of the VAT amount, so it the final price is as if you did not pay VAT.

All Skoda dealers are franchises and operate as individual companies, many are dealing with this offer in different ways, since not all will have taken the Skoda incentive and will instead be discounting the car by 20% themselves, I believe that both routes should end up with the final sale price being the same.

Of course. However, should it not be clear to the purchaser who is contributing the 20%. If it's Skoda I should feel comfortable asking my dealer for some discount. If it's the dealer then he has been more than gracious.

I got told the same thing by a dealer, also in Kent (possibly same one) who offered me a miserable trade in price. I decided to buy elsewhere in the end...

Surely if SUK are covering the cost of the VAt equivalent discount the the dealer still has their full margin to play with, so why are we not hearing of overall discounts exceeding the VAt free offer? even companies like DTD are only showing the Vat free equivalent.:wonder:

I got a discount over and above the VAT free (and so have others on here). At the time Drive the deal were showing a price of about £1200 less than the VAT free on my Octavia vRS so there is obviously still margin in the cars for the dealer.

If there wasn't then it wouldn't really be worth their while selling them would it?

Just to say welcome to the ever growing Greenline club :)

Had A problem with trade in value from first dealer and bought from the second.

As for customer service I cannot complain about my local dealer they did not get the deal (the crap trade in value) but have been really good at looking after the car.

Reminds me of trading in a 7 year old Fabia against the greenline.

"We'll give you £2,500 for your Fabia in PX"

"It's worth £3,000"

"But we can only give you £2,500"

"If you want me to order now I want £3,000 for it, otherwise I'll have a look around"

"OK, we'll give you £3000"

I did exactly the same thing when I bought my Greenline 1.....

Hi. Well today is the day. Let's see how the dealer performs this time. However, I am really looking forward to seeing what sort of economy this car can provide.

I think you are the first person on here to get the Greenline 2 hatch- no doubt I will soon be corrected.

I will be interested in the mpg you get compared to the estate.

That's interesting, as I haven't seen any, mines been built this week and I was hoping i'd be one of the first to get the hatches. My dealer said I was the first order.

Can't wait!

just a trial photo

The vat free is a skoda offer, but the dealers usual margin is reduced by 50% ish.

Out of this they still have to pay pdi, commission etc so it more like a 60-70% margin reduction.
