Noise from front end

Featured Replies

Hi, yesterday whilst driving on the motorway and speed just above 65mph heard a noise from front end, sounded like wind roar and when reduced speed below 60mph it stopped. Today whilst out same noise started when I got above 65mph and only stopped when dropped speed below 65. No warning lights on and no problems until speeded up to 65+. Not being mechanically minded can only describe as a deep droning sound. Did feel the brakes and all were hot but front offside disc was very hot, not sure if that would cause the noise. Will have to go into dealers on Monday but wondered if anyone out there had any ideas beforehand.

Having looked around the forums found many similar reports which seem to point to door seals resonating. Just had a drive along the motorway and over 65mph seals vibrate on A pillar and noise starts again. Push your finders between the inner door seal and door frame and low and behold it stops. Seems that replacing the seals under warranty has worked for others so at least I can point the dealer to the problem and see what they suggest!!!

Visited dealer in Hull this morning and after explaining problem they checked on VAG website and came up with a fix that Skoda suggest. They carried out the fix which was to adjust the door hinges and no noise on way home. Will have to see if it is a long term fix. Just shows that Skoda UK are aware and have offered a fix to dealers.

I'll check and see if this is the culprit or not of the oscillating droning I am getting from 65mph upwards.

Wheel bearing or tyre mishaped perhaps?

I'm thinking one of those will be the likely reason for the droning I can hear, it will be checked by the dealer next week.
