ARB has improved my MPG!

Featured Replies

Just an observation, but I reckon it's helped my MPG this week. I can carry more speed through the corners on my daily/regular routes, maintain my cruising speed and therefore the MPG has gone up. Bonus!

It's been a bit of a game for me this week, but even the missus noticed today. She managed 40.7MPG on a 70 mile run this afternoon, whereas it's normally in the high 30s. I know it's been warmer today, but at least the wife now believes that it was a worthwhile investment.

I work at volvo garage and we have a eco model and they come with a lower ride height and stiffer roll bars so they corner better to improve fuel economy

Makes sense after this last week. I didn't realise how much of a difference it would make. Thanks for confirming my theory.

This is just another great argument for getting that H&R set for the 4x4 - but dear, it will improve the economy and pay for itself!!!! Awsome :D :D :D

I'd also worked out that the saving in petrol is lost due to the extra wear on the tyres. I haven't told her about that one though. :D

Done correctly a lower ride height will improve the cdA (mostly because less air has to flow over the rough underside), so yes it will improve steady speed economy.

Not just less air, but the correct amount as well, so that there's minimum turbulent flow between the two laminar-flow boundary layers underneath the car.

Those Volvo "eco" models also have special wheels and some very tricky software calibrations to make them as treehugging as possible.
