Newbie from North Devon!

Featured Replies

Hello there!

We have just managed to get hold of a 2001(Y) Octavia vRS in Racing Red,

105k Miles, Full History, Lovely Condition, just some slight paint fad on the Spoiler and Mirrors.

What do you guys think? (Have tried to uplad pics, not sure if it worked :/)

Look forward to hearing from you all.

David & Martin

Welcome, from East Devon! :D I might be able to help with the paint fade. ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

I will be popping up another post in a while, we are having a bit of trouble with the old girl.

I also have VCDS. ;)

Actually, after looking up about the faded paint thing, machine polishing is unlikely to do anything as its the basecoat fading under the lacquer, not the lacquer failing, etc. Respray only I think.

If this sounds stupid, you will have to excuse me... Whats VCDS?

Shame about the paintwork, but it doesn't show too much at the moment so I am not really in any rush to do that (current fault casing headache... posting ASAP), but when the time comes. Possibly a vinyl wrap?

VCDS is the new "vagcom" - diagnostic tool to read faults on the car and change loads of stuff, and even monitor boost on the move, etc. :) Damn handy bit of kit.

Hi Dave & Martin - Welcome to Briskoda!

Its only one person, not a Schizophrenic! ;) Martin is the surname, maybe a relation of the Coldplay lead singer. :D

Hello,

That VCDS sounds a fancy bit of kit. Not 100% sure on modifying just yet, money is a bit tight you know...

Can't do anything to the suspension anyway, we live in an old converted farm house and the driveway has potholes so deep you can barely drive a normal car up there!

But yes, we are two people, defenatly not schitzo.

How do I upload photos? Can someone help me there?

Figured out how to put the pictures up!

What do you guys think?

VCDS is good, and a very useful diagnostic tool when things start going wrong. Dealers usually charge £70+ to just plug your car into their machines, so I've saved about £2,000 scanning mine over the years. :D

Sounds like a good bit of kit you have got there. If it is £70 I may have to put you down on my speeddial!
