Scout with Autec wheels

Featured Replies

Hi all - I've been thinking about winter wheels for next time round, and Autec alloys look pretty good to me - several of the styles look OEM to my eyes.

The website has a new tools that allows you to upload a photo and mount various styles - very neat.

What do you think about these - Zenits in 17"?

p.s. someone has got to say something about the ride height! Think its a combination of having no load, and the hill being quite steep.

What do you think would work for the Scout? I'm not keen on steel wheels, although I know that is the most sensible solution. I also think that 16" wheels look too small in the arches. The polished Proteus and some of the Yeti wheels look good but are eye wateringly expensive. So 17" aftermarket it is...

For winters i think either of those would be fine.

Its hard to tell from the pics but are the first set polished? If so then these are probably not the best for the tough life they're going to have with salt etc on the uk roads in winter. A painted/powdercoat finish is probably more duable for the winter and also easier to refurb if you need in the future.

Most go for a set of cheap(er) OE wheels audi, seat etc off ebay as you can be confident of the quality and its usually less £ than buying new.

Ride height looks great - its a scout after all. Up = good! :)

If you are sticking with 17" what's wrong with the original wheels?

Local tyre depot charged me £30 to fit the winters last November and £30 to swap back early March.

You can get a lot of swaps for the cost of a new set of wheels.

Proteus ones look better.

What about when they rot though as is the problem for many a scout owner !!

I'll make that decision when (or if) mine rot.

Fair point about why bother with new wheels if they are the same size as the OEM Proteuses.

I was looking around for some narrow 6Jx17 wheels to match the OEM winter Flash alloys - has any one found wheels of this size? 205x50r17 is an approved winter size for the Scout.
