REVO offer

Featured Replies

My Ever-so-friendly Skoda dealer sent me a mailshot yesterday offering a REVO re-map on the vRS for £299 which they state is 20% off RRP.

How nice is that ?

Eibach springs and a Milltek exhaust are on the leaflet, but no prices unless you call them. Looks like I'll be popping in soon

Hmm, I guess there's no mention of endorsement by Skoda, or any mention of warranties?

Still, seems like a good price :)

Should he even be offering this info,is he endorsing the revo seems wrong!,nice or not someone could get a revo done and confuse that it was right to do so on the back of that!

what dealer? If the dealer is selling the remaps, then warranty will very likely stay intact through them, just not other dealers id imagine

As above, if dealer sold does it hold the warranty intact ?

Some dealers do remap cars. When we bought our Polo the sales guy at the VW dealership was blabbing on about a demo GTI Edition 30 they'd just Revo'd to 300hp. Only problem then is thay you're probably stuck with taking the car to that dealer for servicing as they'll ignore the remap. If the dealership goes out of business as they occasionally do you could be in a spot of bother. Dealers have become much sharper at detecting remapped cars as they are looking for any old excuse not to honour the warranty nowadays.

Personally I think the vRS with its 180ps is plenty quick enough, I'm actually not sure the chassis and brakes could cope admirably with much more power. 0-60 in just under 7 secs (well Auto Express clocked one at 6.8 secs) and 140mph is more than adequate for me.

Not necessarily true - warranty work is a Major source of income for most dealers! They love doing it as it costs them nothing as its claimed back from the manafacturer. If they can get away with putting in a claim they definitely will....

Ha Ha, don't you love the "fantastic" offers you get in the post.

I sent the Mrs up today to see what's the catch ! The price quoted is for a mk1 vRS. The mk2 comes in at £399.

Eibach springs fitted are £380.

I don't think so just yet :wonder:

always a catch somewhere along the way, this remap what bhp do the say they can get it up to, just woundering how much more you can get out of this engine.

Hi Tom,

Appreciate that but it all depends on the dealer. Most froun at non OEM modifications unless they happen to sell them themselves. If they do the work without honouring the warranty they are likely to make more money than they will from the claim they would otherwise submit to VAG.

Does somewhat limit you to taking the car to the one dealer for any work. In any case I think 180hp is enough for a car like this.

And what about insurance? Surely this cannot be classified as 'standard' just because it is dealer-fitted, so it would have to be declared to the insurance company? How do people address the insurance issue? Is a re-map equivalent to a change of ECU? If so, my insurance company (LV=) would ask about another £50 per year with no mention of what extra bhp is on tap.

Had the same leaflet, with a Skoda headed letter, from rainworth.

Anyone got any idea how long 2.0 tfsi vrs exhausts last? Fancy a milltec but won't swap until the old ones knackered

Go outside and drill a hole in it, then justify it by telling people it was blowing anyway. :giggle:

Cheers

Swmbo might notice me lying in the drive with a drill.

Am going to get the piggy bank out.

Been googling spring options and came across this...

"Please note these springs are also available from Skoda accessories as an 'Approved' upgrade."

Eibach E10-79-006-09-22 for the 2010 1.4 vRS

yet when i asked skoda UK, and many dealers they had no idea. i asked JKM and they couldnt confirm. I think eiback borrowed a vRS from a dealer to develop the springs, and are now saying it was skoda approved instead of just approved by a certain dealer

Shame really because I think lowering springs would make the vRS look better and improve handling slightly :(
